One of the things I really enjoy about Senku’s character is that he’s a smartass but he’s also just…so wholly unapologetically a good person. And he’s a complete pacifist on top of that, everything he makes that could be used to harm another human being is fully intended to be used for self defense and forcing negotiations.

Also it’s really funny to see him be like “fuck your darwinism” to all his enemies

Xeno was literally trying to corrupt a 10 year old by suggesting that bioweapons would be a great idea and inspiring him to go research ebola so he could combat disease and that’s the funniest fucking thing to me

Tsukasa: the adults were responsible for corrupting the old world, they don’t deserve to live

Senku: full offense, no

Hyoga: only the strong deserve to live, we can’t support such a big population of weaklings

Senku: shut up, here’s a plan to make sure all 7 billion people can be supported by better managing the earth’s resources

Xeno: I would love to violently conquer the world

Senku: I’ll make sure you can’t, anyway tell me about rocket science

It’s a weird balance of extremely practical while admirably idealistic about building a peaceful, thriving civilization where everyone is provided for and safe. A lot of smartass characters lean heavily into “questionably ethical,” that’s played for comedy, but while Senku has his mad scientist moments it’s really just his way of geeking out and ethics are actually super important to him.
